NAME: Charniere pour tampons de trou d'homme
MATERIAL: 1,5" x 2,0" x 8,0", 216 Stainless Steel
MACHINE: Matsuura RA-IIIF VMC
This project was challenging primarily due to the print being written up in French and Metric dimensioning being used instead of Imperial. The dimensions were easy to convert and pencil onto the print. Just a few trig. problems to solve and I was ready to begin working on creating geometry for applying tool-paths.
The metric geometry was easy to draw using the CAD system. The tool paths were easy to apply, however I did run into some difficulty in deciding a correct way to hold the piece for machining all sides.
This part was challenging but rewarding in the end. It was good for me to work with Metric numbers instead of the typical ones seen on most English prints. The 216 Stainless was a menace to my inserts, it was necessary for me to index them once per piece - not too bad.
I believe I have some lathe programming to work on tomorrow.
